Share your views on proposed changes to the Extension of Protection Periods and Limitation Periods Order.

The government is proposing to amend the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Code (Extension of Protection Periods and Limitation Periods) Order 2022. The order encourages chemical companies to include identified crop groups and priority uses on product labels for agricultural and veterinary (agvet) chemicals. It does this by allowing extensions on certain protection and limitation periods.

We are proposing to:

  • add 83 new priority uses to the order

  • include veterinary uses for the first time

  • maintain all current priority uses

  • make no changes to current crop groups.

The proposed update intends to encourage companies to register more uses of agvet chemicals and improve farmers’ access to a broader range of these vital tools.

We invite affected stakeholders to review the consultation paper and share feedback on the proposed changes. We are specifically interested in how supportive you are of adding the proposed priority uses to the order.
