What happens next

The department is moving through the administrative steps required to update Australia’s Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) database and relevant parts of the department’s website. When this process is complete, permit applications for the importation of fresh beef and beef products derived from cattle born and raised in Canada or Mexico, and legally imported and slaughtered in the US, may be submitted to the department for assessment.

More information can be found on the Fresh (chilled or frozen) beef and beef products for human consumption from approved countries page.
