We consulted stakeholders to inform our review of class 3.2 approved arrangements - imported pig meat processing conditions. The review focusses on:

  • current requirements for segregating cooked and uncooked pig meat

  • how pig meat waste is managed in processing facilities.

How you had your say

We prepared an issues paper and sought feedback via Have Your Say to inform our review. The issues paper recommended that conditions focus on critical control points, including:

  • physical segregation of cooked and uncooked pig meat

  • managing the movement of product and staff within processing facilities

  • incorporating biosecurity controls into waste management.

We invited feedback from stakeholders including: pig meat importers pig meat processors industry members of the public.

What happens next

Your feedback will help inform any potential changes to biosecurity conditions in class 3.2 approved arrangements. Any updated biosecurity conditions that may arise following this consultation and review are anticipated to be announced in 2027.
