Provide your feedback on the proposal to release Puccinia lantanae for the biological control of Lantana.

Lantana (Lantana camara) is a Weed of National Significance (WONS). It affects agriculture, livestock, plantation timber and orchards, and is difficult and costly to manage. It is also a major environmental weed.

We are assessing the proposal to release the leaf rust pathogen Puccinia lantanae in Australia for the biological control of lantana.

We have prepared a draft risk analysis report, and we now invite you to share your feedback. In particular we are seeking your comments on:

  • the proposal to release Puccinia lantanae for the control of lantana

  • the off-target risk assessment associated with the release of Puccinia lantanae

  • any other technical aspects of the report.

Your input will help inform our final report, which we expect to publish in mid-2026.
