How you had your say

We sought feedback on the National Policy on Pest Freedom Programs and Pest Absence.

We invited feedback from people across the plant industry sector, government agencies and research organisations, including growers and producers as well as representatives from:

  • Horticulture and grains industry groups

  • State and territory governments

  • Research and academic organisations

  • Not-for-profit organisations.

During the consultation, we also hosted an information webinar that was open to all stakeholders. The webinar was recorded and published so that stakeholders could watch it in their own time.

Who engaged

We sent survey invitations to 53 stakeholders representing a broad range of plant biosecurity sector participants.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on the policy.

Key themes you raised include:

  • Better communication and collaboration with industry

  • Better national systems and capabilities to support consistency

What happens next

We are considering your feedback in finalising the National Policy on Pest Freedom Programs and Pest Absence, which we expect to publish in early 2026.
