Public consultation on the review of live marine ornamental fish import policy – draft report is closed.
We are currently reviewing the biosecurity risks associated with importing live marine ornamental fish, from all countries.
The review:
identifies the biosecurity risks associated with importing permitted live marine ornamental fish into Australia (as listed on the department’s List of permitted live marine ornamental fish suitable for import)
proposes the biosecurity measures necessary for reducing risk to a level which achieves Australia’s appropriate level of protection.
We sought feedback from people on the draft report for the Review of live marine ornamental fish import policy. We sought feedback from people, organisations, and governments across the ornamental industry.
This included:
Pet associations
Ornamental fish importers
Domestic suppliers
Hobbyists
Trading partners.
Survey
5 participants responded through our survey.
We will review and consider your feedback to develop the final report. Once the final report has been completed, it will be published on this webpage.
The biosecurity measures recommended in the final report will be the basis of import conditions for imported live marine ornamental fish.
