Public consultation on the topic is closed.
We sought feedback from industry into the design of the necessary reforms of the non-prescribed goods (NPGs) export sector.
The reform will help maintain and safeguard market access for Australian exporters of NPGs now and into the future. It will help us continue to assure trading partners that exported goods are meeting importing country requirements.
15 responded through our survey.
The responses to the consultation process generally support Option 2 (regulate to assure goods) that was proposed in the Export Assurance Reform: Options Paper. This option describes a new, commodity and country-based approach to export assurance.
The department is currently working to develop a new General Products Rule which will enable these reforms. These will be implemented industry-by-industry, beginning with rendered goods. Industry Working Groups (IWG) will be formed to co-design elements of the reform in collaboration with the department.
