Share your thoughts and help improve the regulation of non-prescribed export goods.

We are reforming our approach to regulating exports in the non-prescribed goods (NPG) sector. As part of this reform, we will be establishing the Export Control (General Products) Rules (General Products Rules) under the Export Control Act 2020 (the Act).

The proposed General Products Rules will aim to improve regulation of many NPGs that are not currently prescribed under the Act. These include:

  • rendered goods

  • animal food

  • skins and hides

  • honey and bee products

  • wool and wool

  • pharmaceutical, technical and blood products

  • food and beverages.

The reform will provide producers, preparers and exporters with the government assurances needed to continue to trade in a changing market environment.

We have prepared fact sheets which outline the proposed changes under the new regulatory model. We invite industry stakeholders to review the documents relevant to you and share your feedback. Your input is valuable in helping us understand the impacts these reforms will have on you and your business.
