How you had your say

On 29 July 2025 we released the draft report assessing the proposed release of the leaf spot pathogen Neoramulariopsis unguis-cati into Australia for the purpose of controlling cat’s claw creeper (Dolichandra unguis-cati), a Weed of National Significance (WONS). The consultation period closed on 29 August 2025.

No stakeholder submissions were received on the draft report.

Final report

You can read the final risk analysis report, which we released on 6 November 2025.

We recommend that the release of the leaf spot pathogen Neoramulariopsis unguis-cati for the biological control of cat’s claw creeper (Dolichandra unguis-cati) should be permitted, subject to meeting the standard quarantine requirements for biological control agents.

We determined that the risk estimate for the leaf spot pathogen targeting plants other than cat’s claw creeper is Negligible. This risk estimate achieves Australia’s appropriate level of protection (ALOP). Details of the assessment that determined this risk estimate are contained in the final risk analysis report.
