We released the draft report for the pomelo from Vietnam: review of biosecurity import requirements on 30 April 2024 for public consultation. The consultation period closed on 29 June 2024.
We considered all submissions when finalising the risk analysis.
Final report
You can read the final risk analysis report, which was released on 29 April 2025, as well as our responses to stakeholder’s technical comments available in Appendix C of the report.
We determined that the importation of pomelo from Vietnam can be permitted, subject to our biosecurity import conditions.
Nineteen quarantine pests associated with pomelo are present in Vietnam and need risk management measures to reduce the risk to an acceptable level. A range of measures are recommended to reduce the risk of these pests arriving in Australia via the pomelo pathway.
