Fresh decrowned pineapples from Taiwan

We have finalised the risk analysis for fresh decrowned pineapples from Taiwan.

It is recommended that the import of decrowned pineapples from Taiwan be permitted provided it meets our biosecurity import conditions.

Five quarantine pests and two regulated articles (regulated thrips) associated with decrowned pineapples are present in Taiwan, and need risk management measures to reduce the risk to an acceptable level. A range of measures are recommended to reduce the risk of these pests arriving in Australia via the decrowned pineapple fruit pathway.

We released a draft report for fresh decrowned pineapples from Taiwan on 29 August 2018, for public consultation. The consultation period closed on 29 October 2018.

All submissions were considered in finalising the risk analysis.

You can read the final risk analysis report as well as our responses to stakeholder comments on the draft report.
