National Traceability Project

We are developing a National Traceability Framework to:

  • enhance Australia’s agricultural traceability systems
  • improve competitiveness
  • provide assurance for customers both domestically and abroad.

Australia has a reputation for exporting safe products that meet importing country requirements, and producing safe food for domestic supply.Traceability systems strengthen Australia's reputation for delivering high quality, clean, green, safe food.

This project will further enhance the integrity of our systems. Enhancing our current systems may provide a competitive edge for Australian products.

Please note, the framework has been updated following an industry workshop on 7 February 2019. Please read the new version of the framework before making a submission.

Thank you for your engagement with the project so far. The traceability project team is still working through feedback on the principles and the framework to be incorporated in the final version. We drafted the framework based on your feedback on 8 proposed traceability principles. Feedback on the principles has now closed.
