Group pest risk analysis for mealybugs

We are conducting a group pest risk analysis for mealybugs and the viruses they transmit.

Mealybugs and the viruses they transmit can cause damage across a range of crops. They can reduce crop yield, quality and marketability.

We released a draft report on the group pest risk analysis for mealybugs and the viruses they transmit on fresh fruit, vegetable, cut-flower and foliage imports.

The consultation period closed on 27 November 2018.

We will consider all comments before finalising the group pest risk analysis.

This risk analysis will be conducted in 3 steps:

  1. Review current scientific information and prepare a draft risk analysis report.
  2. Release the draft risk analysis report for public comment.
  3. Consider feedback in preparing the final risk analysis report.

You can read the draft group risk analysis report PDF (3.2 MB). The draft group risk analysis report outlines the identified biosecurity risks, associated with mealybug pests, and proposed risk management measures.

This analysis is funded under the Australian Government’s Agricultural Competitiveness White Paper, the government’s plan to grow agriculture.
