Public consultation on the draft report considering measures to prevent the importation of illegal, unreported and unregulated seafood has closed.

The final report has now been published.

How you had your say

We sought feedback from industry, research bodies, governments, NGOs and community stakeholders on measures to prevent the importation of illegal, unreported and unregulated seafood.

What happens next

The Australian Government, through the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry will now:

  • review Australia’s import codes and related data reporting requirements to allow for a more comprehensive classification of Australia’s seafood imports

  • advocate for the implementation and expansion, where suitable, of existing multilateral catch documentation schemes.

More information on this decision can be found on the department’s website.
