Many of our people operate departmental vehicles regularly while going about their day-to-day tasks. We want to encourage a broader culture of good driving—everyone using our fleet vehicles is a visible representative of the department and should drive accordingly.

The department’s fleet management team has been working on the development of a single guideline to ensure that our fleet remains fit-for-purpose and agile whilst meeting government, departmental and public expectations.

The guideline provides guidance to all staff on the conditions of use of departmental vehicles, and we are seeking your thoughts and feedback on the use of our fleet to ensure it enables the business to function well and the asset and drivers are operating in a safe manner.

We will be taking your comments into consideration as we aim for a fleet guideline that will meet the more diverse and broader needs of our new department.

    Submissions close Thursday, 7 January.

You are invited to share your comments and feedback on Governance Committee meetings.

To ensure our governance meetings (i.e. Executive Board and its subcommittees) are fit-for-purpose and as efficient as possible, the Corporate and Business Services Division seeks your assistance in completing a short online survey.

We are asking members (including proxies), advisors and people who have presented papers to these forums in the last 12 months to provide their feedback.

Governance in the public sector covers, ‘…the set of responsibilities and practices, policies and procedures, exercised by an agency’s executive, to provide strategic direction, ensure objectives are achieved, manage risks and use resources responsibly and with accountability’.

The data from this survey will provide valuable information to help the department understand what is working well, as well as possible areas for improvement.

Submissions close COB 15 July 2021.

We have an ambition through the Future Department Blueprint to support and enable staff mobility to deliver on our objectives and support our people to grow both professionally and personally.

To deliver on this ambition, the Capability, Planning and Change Branch have been developing a draft mobility framework, alongside their delivery partner, Nous Group.

    Our ambition for the framework:

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment’s Mobility Framework describes the benefits and principles of mobility at DAWE, the opportunities and the processes that will support DAWE to maximise the benefits of mobility. The framework seeks to support our people to have positive mobility experiences and promote the use of mobility to help us to deliver on our Purpose, Objectives, Priorities and Values (POPV) and our transformation.

The framework will have supporting tools and templates to maximise the benefits and experiences of mobility for our people.

    Uses

    1. Staff can use the mobility framework to help understand the benefits and opportunities of mobility to support their own professional development.
    2. Staff can use the associated tools and templates to optimise their mobility experience and learn from best practise examples.
    3. Managers can use the framework to identify mobility opportunities for their staff to uplift capabilities and improve engagement, and make use of mobility options to deliver on their strategic objectives
    4. Managers can use the framework to understand how to best support staff engaged in mobility to maximise the benefits to individuals and teams.

Through this survey we are seeking input on key components of the framework.

Submissions close on COB Wednesday 2 March 2022.
