Breadfruit from Fiji, Samoa and Tonga

Consultation submissions are now closed.

We are conducting a risk analysis for fresh breadfruit from Fiji, Samoa and Tonga.

We have now released a draft report proposing that the import of fresh breadfruit from Fiji, Samoa and Tonga to Australia be permitted, subject to biosecurity import requirements. The draft report identifies seven quarantine pests (three fruit flies and four mealybugs) and proposes risk management measures to manage biosecurity risks.

You are invited to provide comment on the draft report, including on the pest risk assessments and proposed risk management measures.

Submissions on the draft report will close on 3 December 2018.

To make a submission:

  • Read the draft report
  • Submit your comments via our online form, or by post or email.

We will consider all comments before finalising the risk analysis.
